About Me

My photo
Whether it's five miles or five hundred miles, riding a bicycle is more fun than anyone ever told me! My New Year's Resolution to cycle 10 miles a day or 40 minutes on a spin bike has meant that by the end of May I have cycled 2,600 miles! Because of my cycling wardrobe the weather has not stopped me from cycling (unless it really is -5 degrees or with wind gusts of 25 mph). Cycling in style and in comfort is really important to me as I don't really want to be covered in logos looking like a Ninja as I buy groceries or attend meetings. I have found some things that work for me but am always looking for new pieces. For me, Evans Cycles and Cycle Surgery for the basics. My two favourite brands for my wardrobe are www.velorution.com and www.velovixen.com but I am always looking for new pieces. I would love to know what works for you and why. Happy cycling!

Six Days of 20" Wheels and one of 700s

Mice Logs Concern at the prospect of competing in a World Champtionship!

As my collection of World Championship Medals currently stands at zero, this Brompton event in July is focussing my mind!

                                      Brompton World Champtionship 2013

Apart from one day last week, all the others were spent on my Brommie.  It is the M6 version, the Brooks saddle is now four weeks old and is much more comfortable than the Brompton one - not least because it's the correct size.  Sit bones, eh? Who knew..?!  The only disadvantage of the Brooks is that given the weight of the Brompton, it is rather uncomfortable to carry when folded.

The week was full of meetings, lunches, chores and a bit of rain.

Mondays Lunch in Ladbroke Grove via Holborn brought an average 9.4 mph with 16.1 as max speed in 1hr 16 and 10.5 miles

Tuesdays trip to a railway station and a train journey with the road bike gave me my 10 miles and no stats!

Wednesday was back on the Brommie with a max speed of 16.5 over 11.81 miles as I popped into Bike Fix in Lambs Conduit Street, WC1N 3LH.  They always have interesting things - this could have been the perfect moment to pimp my Brommie

Thursdays trip to Regents Canal was 10.5 miles but my stats were wiped when I folded the bike! D'Oh!

Friday was Fast(ish)! 12.9 average!! 4.69 miles in 21 minutes with 19.9 as max speed! That's more the ticket!! To what is becoming my local! By the end of the day I had cycled 17.20 miles in 1hr 50.

Saturday was another max speed of 19.5 during 11.92 miles in 1hr 11.

Sundays speed of 17.3 tops needs to be improved upon but 10.86 miles in 1hr 12!

Never did I imagine that I would whizz passed someone who was on carbon and in cleats whilst I was on the Brommie, in civvies and in heels! He was not amused as I was haring along the Embankment on a cycle superhighway    He caught me up at the lights and we played silent cat and mouse all the way to Blackfriars Bridge!  To be fair, he won but I gave him a run for his money!!

I did cycle past this - which is for sale...!! All I need is a chauffeur - with legs of steel!

My stats for the end of April show that I have cycled 1982 miles this year - and 120 minutes on a spinning bike (in January when it was -5 outside).  My New Resolution is definitely keeping me on my bike along with an enormous grin on my face!
