About Me

My photo
Whether it's five miles or five hundred miles, riding a bicycle is more fun than anyone ever told me! My New Year's Resolution to cycle 10 miles a day or 40 minutes on a spin bike has meant that by the end of May I have cycled 2,600 miles! Because of my cycling wardrobe the weather has not stopped me from cycling (unless it really is -5 degrees or with wind gusts of 25 mph). Cycling in style and in comfort is really important to me as I don't really want to be covered in logos looking like a Ninja as I buy groceries or attend meetings. I have found some things that work for me but am always looking for new pieces. For me, Evans Cycles and Cycle Surgery for the basics. My two favourite brands for my wardrobe are www.velorution.com and www.velovixen.com but I am always looking for new pieces. I would love to know what works for you and why. Happy cycling!

Sunshine all around!

11.19 miles, 16,1 top speed in 1 hr 29 to Notting Hill via Clerkenwell!

What a lovely day - everything looks so happy - all shiny, bright and sparkling!
The temperature is warmer but not as high as some of the drivers who are clearly overheating.  Ridiculous attitude.  And they would have so much more fun if they rode a bike.

Riding a bicycle around London allows you to see things from a completely different perspective.

Off to lunch with a friend in Clerkenwell - my Brommie wasn't the only one there!

Then off to Notting Hill for a Cappuccino on the canal.  Worth visiting, this little cafe on the water! The Waterside Cafe, Little Venice, Warwick Crescent, London W2 6NE Open 9 - 5  (Tel 020 7266 1066)

So lovely to be under blue sky at last!

01 05 13. Sox Awayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

30daysofbiking Day 1 without #30daysofbiking! 10 miles on the Brommie with a top speed of 16.7mph chasing sock stock!

Cycle Surgery sent me a secret code that would give me three pairs of socks for the price of two. I couldn't resist! Off to the nearest branch for sock talk.

For me, the main priority for my socks is that I don't notice they are there! If they are too big they can crumple up inside the shoe and rub against a foot causing blisters.  I usually wear two pairs of socks which vary in thickness depending on the weather. If it's very cold I wear overshoes.  As the temperature seems to be rising (well today at least) a purchase of summer socks seemed a good idea, especially three for the price of two.

The assistant in Cycle Surgery recommended The Pearl Izumo Attack low sock as they are soft and unobtrusive when worn,  along with another brand, Icebreaker. Sadly neither were in stock so I shot off to another branch where the stock supplies were worse. Very un-Cycle Surgery like! I don't normally have these issues in this shop and I always find the staff really helpful, informed and enthusiastic so even though I was still sock free - eight miles haring around London in the sunshine could hardly be described as a bad day!!

I did pop into Evans Cycles - result! Not only was I inundated with socks but they were nearly all in the sale! Huzzah!
