12.76 miles, 11.6 average, max speed 19.9 in
1hr 25. Woop! Woop! Empty Office Alert! Everybody within a stones' throw of Hyde Park at lunchtime was in
it!
Sitting, strolling, chatting, picnicking
just taking in the rays of the sun and the raise of the temperature. Woopedooooo!
It wasnt exactly hot but in comparison to err, yesterday morning - Summer is on
its way!
The daffs and crocuseseses were playing second fiddle to the
brightness of the sky, there were bare legs, bare arms as people were actually
wearing tttttea-shirts!
I counted my lucky stars that I could be cycling there today
- the atmosphere was so relaxed, people gently weaving around each other and
the cafes were full!
On the road however, the atmosphere wasn't quite so
relaxed. A taxi cab shouted at me to get
in the cycle lane (even though I was doing 19 miles an hour and I was avoiding
a fresh pile of manure) at the same time a cyclist appeared in front of me on
the wrong side of the road (cycle path). A bit further on a diplomat registered
car must have been doing 45mph down South Carriageway to make the traffic
lights and a man in a van haired past me missing me by inches only sit in a
queue 20 metres later. How do we get
these people riding bikes?
It didnt put me off tho'.
The park was so sunny and a really lovely place to be that I couldn't
resist stopping for a cappuccino to watch the world go by.
Eventually I managed to tear myself away and headed into
Mayfair before heading home.
What a fabulous day to be on a bike - cycling amongst happy
people! I hope this is a taste of things to come!
