About Me

My photo
Whether it's five miles or five hundred miles, riding a bicycle is more fun than anyone ever told me! My New Year's Resolution to cycle 10 miles a day or 40 minutes on a spin bike has meant that by the end of May I have cycled 2,600 miles! Because of my cycling wardrobe the weather has not stopped me from cycling (unless it really is -5 degrees or with wind gusts of 25 mph). Cycling in style and in comfort is really important to me as I don't really want to be covered in logos looking like a Ninja as I buy groceries or attend meetings. I have found some things that work for me but am always looking for new pieces. For me, Evans Cycles and Cycle Surgery for the basics. My two favourite brands for my wardrobe are www.velorution.com and www.velovixen.com but I am always looking for new pieces. I would love to know what works for you and why. Happy cycling!

Mice Log Sunshine Date 64

12.76 miles, 11.6 average, max speed 19.9 in 1hr 25. Woop! Woop! Empty Office Alert!  Everybody within a stones'  throw of Hyde Park at lunchtime was in it!
Sitting, strolling, chatting, picnicking just taking in the rays of the sun and the raise of the temperature. Woopedooooo! It wasnt exactly hot but in comparison to err, yesterday morning - Summer is on its way!
The daffs and crocuseseses were playing second fiddle to the brightness of the sky, there were bare legs, bare arms as people were actually wearing tttttea-shirts!

I counted my lucky stars that I could be cycling there today - the atmosphere was so relaxed, people gently weaving around each other and the cafes were full!
On the road however, the atmosphere wasn't quite so relaxed.  A taxi cab shouted at me to get in the cycle lane (even though I was doing 19 miles an hour and I was avoiding a fresh pile of manure) at the same time a cyclist appeared in front of me on the wrong side of the road (cycle path). A bit further on a diplomat registered car must have been doing 45mph down South Carriageway to make the traffic lights and a man in a van haired past me missing me by inches only sit in a queue 20 metres later.  How do we get these people riding bikes?

It didnt put me off tho'.  The park was so sunny and a really lovely place to be that I couldn't resist stopping for a cappuccino to watch the world go by.

Eventually I managed to tear myself away and headed into Mayfair before heading home.

What a fabulous day to be on a bike - cycling amongst happy people! I hope this is a taste of things to come!
